The ipad

The ipad was received with very different opinions from all across the geek community, some people priase the restrictness of the iPhone os, others condemn it. Some say it’s a glorified iPhone, others say it’s what th industry has needed to tak it away from the innovation stagnated area of laptops.

This is my opinion, and yes I will be buying one on launch day.

The most important part of the keynote on Wednesday was the Apple A4 processor. While not much is know about the processor, from the demonstrations that were given on the iPad, it is obvious that it will be fast, imagine this in te next generation of iPhones. This could be the start of a fully multi-tasking environment.

As for features, most will say that there is not really much of a difference from the iPhone, but that’s not the point, this is a version 1.0 release and let’s all think about the iPhone when that was first released.

Well I have a lot more to say, but not much time, so off to eBay to sell all rye stuff the ipad will replace.

Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor. Apple has again built a product that looks nice and feels great in the hand , and the well-known user interface, lent from the iPhone and iPod touch, is perfectly suited to the big screen. My first impressions of the iPad are very positive, the new iPad whizzes along, you can open applications, resize web pages, and zooming in and out of maps almost instantaneously. I´m still waiting to test more, but the first tests are amazing. Regards, Oscar Rousselle
